MA Sustainable Chemistry and Technologies
This programme trains you to be a professional chemist capable of developing original ideas, designing new processes in research and applied/industrial contexts and applying the tools and ideas of modern chemistry to the solution of biological problems at the molecular level.
Duration
2 years
Starting Date
September
Tuition Fee
from 700 € 2,157 € based on nationality
Location
Venice, Italy
About the programme
It employs a unique approach to the study of sustainable and green chemistry by providing you with an in-depth knowledge of the interaction between chemical production and the environment. It also tackles the emerging discipline of Chemical Biology that sits at the crossroad of traditional chemistry and biology, equipping you with the ability to bridge disparate fields and the confidence to tackle research in sustainable and green chemistry and technology, biomolecular studies and biotechnologies in a multidisciplinary environment.
The programme offers three distinct curricula: Biomolecular Chemistry (taught in English), Chemistry (taught in Italian) and Industrial Chemistry (taught in Italian).
The course of study is markedly interdisciplinary and offers many hands-on formative and international internship opportunities, thereby providing you with the skills you need to assume both highly qualified technical and academic positions in research and development, quality assurance and production control. Upon graduation, you will have the skill set required to become a highly qualified specialist or consultant in different industries or to work in international biological/environmental protection.
Career opportunities
Graduates are prepared to work as employees or freelance professionals in any of the departments of a modern company or at a research institute, as well as perform managerial tasks in the chemical industry (both basic and “fine”) and manufacturing.
Possible career opportunities include:
- Chemist
- Chemical information management specialist
- Chemical manufacturing consultant
- Process developer
- Product designer
- Researcher
- Specialist consultant for companies and governmental agencies
- Biotechnologist
Programme structure
The Master’s degree programme is organised in three curricula, one of which is in English:
- Chemistry (in Italian)
- Industrial Chemistry (in Italian)
- Biomolecular Chemistry (in English)
With the aim of ‘learning by doing’, the degree programme includes many theoretical and practical lessons, which involve numerous laboratory exercises. In addition, at the end of the degree programme, students will carry out an experimental research thesis, which may also be carried out abroad or in companies and which will enable them to learn advanced research methodologies and to learn how to design, conduct and interpret scientific experiments in various fields.
